About Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral therapy (CST) operates on the premise that the body has an inherent capacity to self-correct and heal, always striving for optimal function and health.
And life can get in the way. Injury, illness, and stress can block the body’s ability to heal and lead to long-term patterns of pain and poor health.
Using gentle yet deeply effective touch techniques, craniosacral therapy releases these health-limiting blocks and patterns. With its natural ability to self-correct and heal restored, the body “remembers” how to sustain balance and thrives.
How does Craniosacral therapy work?
CST works by evaluating and enhancing the tissue and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord, what’s known as the craniosacral system, as well as peripheral tissues that may be adversely affecting it. This system has a discernible pulse or rhythm, referred to as the craniosacral pulse, that travels like a wave throughout the body, directly and indirectly influencing health and function on physical, mental, and emotional levels.
A craniosacral therapist evaluates the craniosacral system by physically feeling or “listening” to the cranial pulse at different locations in the body. The therapist then uses gentle touch and movement to release physical restrictions. This not only restores proper function to the structural systems of the body, but increases energy flow and communication throughout the system.
